Demand Controlled Ventilation

Demand controlled ventilation is an intelligent and automatic system that regulates ventilation in a building based on actual demand for fresh air. Instead of providing a fixed amount of fresh air at all times, the DCV system monitors indoor air quality and adjusts ventilation rates automatically without any user intervention. DCV systems have shown to reduce ventilation-linked heat losses by up to 50% compared to traditional ventilation systems. This ensures that your home always has the right amount of fresh air without wasting energy.

Benefits of DCV Systems

superior comfort

Improved Indoor Air Quality

Maintain a healthy & comfortable indoor environment inside your house free from stale air and pollutants.

Better Control

Achieve more control over your home’s indoor environment by automatically adjusting ventilation rates on the occupancy of the building & other factors.

Eliminates Mould

Control moisture levels inside the building by extracting moisture-laden air from kitchens and bathrooms, reducing the risk of condensation and dampness.

Energy Savings

Because a DCV system only generates fresh air when it’s needed, it can help to reduce energy consumption and lower your energy bills. That’s why DCV systems are increasingly recommended and installed in private homes.

How do DCV Systems Work?

DCV systems work by continuously monitoring the indoor air quality and occupancy of a building using sensors. The sensors continuously report the real time data to the controller which then conveys this information to the fans, adjusting the rate of ventilation according to what is happening in the room.

When the sensors detect an increase in the level of CO2 or other pollutants, the DCV system increases the amount of fresh air ventilation to maintain a healthy and comfortable indoor environment.

The extracts fans are generally placed in the attic spaces or utility rooms and are connected via ducts to extract grilles in wet rooms (Kitchen, bathroom, utility). Fresh Air comes into the house through passive or humidity sensitive wall vents or window vents in the habitable rooms (bedrooms, living rooms).

DCV only needs ducting from wet rooms, which makes the system ideal for the cost-effective installation of a whole-house ventilation system. It is also ideal for refurbishment and retrofit work.
